Vasque Breeze 2.0 GTX Hiking Boots
Vasque knows how to do a hiking boot, case in point, the Breeze 2.0 GTX 2.0. They revamped their Breeze boot to make them lighter, more breathable and tougher, and they look great too. These are excellent for spring and summer adventures. There is a ton of shock absorption on these boots, look at those soles. An EVA midsole creates a nice cushion, and a grippy vibram outsole for stability.
The back of the boot has a bumper to protect your foot, the tread is beefy and will give you good traction. All along the boot are mesh ventilation panels to keep your feet cooler. Laces help you to get the fit just right. The boot comes up high over your ankles for extra support necessary for hiking over rocks and roots.
The Breeze 2.0s are somewhat of a hybrid between an athletic trail running shoe and a heavy duty hiking boot. You’ve got the ventilation of a trail runner, but with all the protection and stability of a hiking boot. I had these in the snow and they did great, though I wouldn’t choose these for that purpose (Vasque has cold weather specific boots), it’s nice to know your boot can handle snow if necessary. They can certainly handle rain. The Gortex lining keeps them waterproof but breathable.
Are they comfortable? Super comfortable with no break in time. Just putting these on my feet immediately put spring in my step and made me want to get out for a hike pronto. On the trail they performed like a dream. I only had a daypack, so no big load or anything (though I think these would be appropriate for light backpacking). Great hiking boots and a good value, find them HERE.
