Outdoor Research Helium Traveler Jacket
Need a light rain jacket for summer travel? The Outdoor Research Helium Traveler Jacket is feather light, but does the job. It’s the kind of jacket you can just keep in your daypack or tote and pull out if it rains. It’s a great pick for summertime travel and warmer weather outings.
The left pocket doubles as a stuff sack for the jacket which packs way down, making it super practical to keep in your bag. The hood is adjustable with a stiff brim–I love this, and it works really well to keep out the rain. Cuffs are adjustable. A two-way zipper allows for extra comfort when you sit down or to vent and the front pockets have mesh fabric so you can vent that way as well. There are no pit zips, I assume because the fabric is so ultra breathable and they wanted to keep the jacket streamlined, which it is. You get a fashionable jacket that has a lot of technical features here.
It comes in three colors and the fit, I think, runs a bit snug. I’d size up if you like a generous fit or want to wear any bulk at all underneath. Seams on the jacket create flattering lines and this works really well for city travel where you just want to look slightly dressier and more put together than the look you get with a basic rain jacket.
