Thetford Porta Potti Curve Portable Toilet
Among my non-camping friends, one of the biggest objections to camping I hear is the bathroom situation. People don’t like the idea of having to get up in the middle of the night and find there way to public restrooms or the woods to do their business in the dark. Pregnant women are especially resistant to camping for this reason. The Thetford Porta Potti Curve Portable Toilet solves this problem.
This is a flushable toilet that runs on battery power. After filling the fresh water tank with water (there’s an indicator to let you know the fresh water level status), you just put 6 AA batteries in the battery compartment and push the button to fill the bowl with water, then you pull a separate lever to flush.
Waste goes into a holding tank that is sealed off to prevent odor. An indicator light lets you know when the tank is full. Included is a small bottle of EcoSmart which helps to break down waste and control smells. The holding tank separates so that you can take it to empty. I suggest emptying the holding tank before it’s full as it can get heavy.
As far as toilets go, this one is good looking. It has a modern design, with a height close to a normal toilet for comfort and there’s a built in toilet paper holder on the side (I’d recommend a fast-dissolving toilet paper like THIS).
I like this toilet for camping, cabins with no plumbing, campers, boats and as part of your emergency supplies. Find the Thetford Port Potti Curve Portable Toilet HERE.
