2017 Holiday Gifts for Adventurers
Need some holiday gift inspiration for the adventurers in your life? Here are some solid options for the campers, travelers, and outdoorsy folks on your list.
Sunski Taraval Sunglasses
Sunski sunglasses provide wrap around protection perfect for adventure travel and water activities. What’s great about Sunski is that you can get the luxury and benefit of quality polarized sunglasses at an affordable price. Check out these Taravals. They are light weight and great looking with a matte black frame and blue lenses. They come in a cute, gift worthy box and would make a nice surprise for Christmas for both men and women.
Patagonia Down Sweater Vest
Everybody needs a Patagonia Sweater Vest. This has to be one of the most useful pieces of clothing ever created, and I like the way it looks too. This 800-fill traceable down vest can be a base layer or worn as outerwear. It packs down very small, so it’s ideal for travel with an inner chest pocket that doubles as a stuff sack with carabiner loop. Size runs pretty true, no need to size up on this one. This vest is one of my favorite things of the year and comes in men’s and women’s sizing as well as different colors. I love the sleek black which is a travel wardrobe staple.
Leatherman’s new Signal Muti-Tool has stuff I’ve never seen on a pocket tool before. Like a fire starter, knife sharpener, and safety whistle.
This is such a great gift for the person who has everything. It’s a solid man-gift and would appeal to a range of personalities. Everyone needs a multitool, but it has a fun-factor to it as well. This would be perfect for your emergency kit and one of your 12 Essentials while hiking and camping.
Hydro Flask Wine Bottle Set
Tempshield keeps your wine at the perfect temperature and eliminates condensation. I think they work great for other drinks too, like spiked hot chocolate or hot spiced apple cider. The tumbler feels great in your hand while the bottle is leak-proof with Pure Pour to eliminate drips when pouring.
BioLite SolarPanel 10+
Another thing we could all use but wouldn’t necessarily buy for ourselves is a portable solar panel like this BioLite SolarPanel 10+. This is one of those things that is great for camping, but would also be invaluable in an emergency situation where you need some power.
This solar panel provides 10 watts of electricity. It folds up for easy packing and has a little sundial that helps you position the panels for optimal charging. It also has an integrated 3000 mAh battery for even more versatility.
Pacsafe Vibe Crossbody
Pacsafe makes high quality, security minded bags that help to keep you and your stuff safe while traveling. This Vibe Crossbody 150 is awesome because it’s a great, compact size that lends itself to a lot of versatility. I love the gray camo pattern that looks really nice in person, and matches my mostly gray and black travel wardrobe beautifully. It’s appropriate for men and women, and makes a great aternative to a day pack, holding all your essentials while preventing pickpocketing and a slash and grab theft.
YETI One Gallon Jug
The YETI One Gallong Jug is useful for camping, road trips, and anywhere you need portable water or other beverages.
The double wall keeps your cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot for hours on end–I don’t know what magic YETI has going on to make their vessels so much better than the others but there is something special about YETI. They are a million times better than the plastic jugs that can leach stuff you don’t want in your drinks, plus stainless lasts while plastic breaks down. A nifty magnetic MagCap dock keeps you from losing the lid and the stainless handle with rubberized grip makes it easy to carry and pour. And–this is one cool looking jug that would make an unexpected gift.
Blue Lotus Chai
Speaking of drinks, Blue Lotus Chai is nice for camping and travel because all you need is hot water and there is no waste afterwards. This is the first instant tea I’ve ever tried. They come in different flavors in reusable, gift worthy tins that make a nice presentation and would be perfect for stocking stuffers.
The Golden Masala Chai is a spicy blend made with turmeric and maca. Lately I’ve been trying to consume as much turmeric as I can because it is a great anti-inflammatory. Drinking it is an easy way to do that. I tried this tea plain, with almond milk, coconut milk and cow milk. I have to say, I preferred the cow milk because it was creamy and delicious, but I wouldn’t balk at almond or coconut milk for vegan options.
Topeak Mini Morph G Bike Pump
Wow, portable bike pumps have improved so much. My first one was nowhere near as easy to use as this Topeak Mini Morph G Bike Pump is wonderful because it has a fold out T-handle and foot pad to give you better leverage making it easy to pump air into your tires on the go. An inline gauge measures the pressure.
It works on skinny and fat tires, and comes with a mount to attach it to your bike. Wouldn’t this be a great stocking stuffer?
