Cruise Packing List: What You Actually Need

A light spinner or a wrap zip on the bunk. The gangway bag is the one you carry. The 100 ml tube is for the flight to the port, then confirm the line.

A cruise cabin is a dresser that rocks. The best bag is the bag that opens like a drawer on a bunk, plus a small carry you never let go of on the gangway. Liquids have two desks: the airport tray on the way to the port, and the line’s own embarkation page. We copy both. We do not invent a ship-wide 3 oz myth.

Who is sailing still decides the liters. Retirees on a cruise roll a 5.3 lb Maxlite 5 International. A solo traveler who flies carry-on to the port uses a wrap zip, then a Daylite on deck. A family that drives to the harbor treats the hatch as the week and the gangway bag as the hour.

Cabin drawers

The Travelpro Maxlite 5 International is the cabin spinner we file for a rolling gangway. Travelpro lists 5.3 lb, 39 L, and overall 21.75 x 15.75 x 7.75 in. The Cotopaxi Allpa 35L is the walking cabin bag: a suitcase-style full wrap zipper, mesh clothing compartments, 35 L, 22 x 12 x 10 in, and about 2 lb 15 oz / 1.33 kg on the redesign. On a bunk, that wrap zip is a dresser. You are not digging past a laptop sleeve for a fleece.

Cotopaxi Cubo cubes drop into that wrap zip. Cotopaxi publishes Cubo in named sizes. Color blocking is the finding system in a dark cabin. The Cotopaxi Allpa 28L publishes 28 L and the same opening for a short sailing if two outfits plus the clothes you wear aboard will fit.

A short coastal weekend can drop to Allpa 28. A week stays on Allpa 35. Do not pack a 45 L expanded bag because the closet looks empty. Ship closets are narrow. Drawers you can see beat volume you cannot lift down a corridor.

Gangway carry

Royal Caribbean’s luggage FAQ is the official line page we cite for a typical embarkation story: you may carry bags aboard or send them. Carry boarding documents, medications, and a small bag with a change of clothes and a bathing suit, because the stateroom may not be ready. Carry-on pieces must fit the port x-ray machines, which the line says are generally similar to airport checkpoint machines. Other lines publish their own pages. Read the one printed on your ticket.

The Osprey Daylite Plus is that gangway bag. Osprey publishes it as a 20 L class daypack. It holds the swimsuit, the spare shirt, the bottle, and the medication you will not check. The Allpa can go on a cart. The Daylite stays on a shoulder.

Pills stay with you. Cadence Capsules are gasketed capsules for creams and solids, with volumes printed on each SKU page. Cadence is what you buy when the product is a cream or a pill count, not a shampoo. Keep medication in original labeled containers when a line asks for that. Royal Caribbean’s FAQ advises original labeled prescription containers and extra days of medication if an itinerary changes.

Embarkation liquids, and the flight before them

The TSA 3-1-1 liquids rule applies to the flight to the port: 3.4 oz (100 ml) or less per container, one quart-sized bag. The Humangear GoToob+ publishes 50 ml, 75 ml, and 100 ml. The 100 ml tube is the one that matches that tray.

The ship is a different desk. A line’s luggage page is the source for what boards the vessel. Royal Caribbean’s FAQ does not print a 3.4 oz embarkation cap for toiletries. People on the internet invent one. We will not. If you fly, pack 100 ml for the airport. If you drive, confirm the line’s prohibited items list for alcohol and aerosols, then pack the bottles that page allows.

On deck, a bottle you can refill is the heat kit. The hot and humid note is the climate chapter. Isolate takes the swimsuit. The cabin drawer takes the dry stack.

Cabin extras the line will actually allow

Many lines ban surge protectors in the stateroom. The TESSAN TS-110 listing names model TS-110, no surge protection, 1250W, a 4.5 ft cord, 4 outlets, and 3 USB ports. Magnetic walls are a ship fact. MIKEDE magnetic hooks name a 50 lb vertical hold claim on ASIN B0B65F8W77. The Cruise On lanyard listing names an adjustable 11 to 23 in strap and a waterproof card holder. The cruise extras field note is the hub.

Plan the people, then the port

Open the Trip Planner and pick cruise as the mode. Couples who share one cabin can open the couple-specific journey guides and pick cruise or another way to move. The retirees cruise journey already rolls the Maxlite 5 International, then a non-surge strip, hooks, and a lanyard. This note is the cabin chapter: spinner or wrap zip on the bunk, Daylite on the gangway, GoToob+ 100 ml for the airport, line FAQ for the ship. The best cruise kit is the kit that opens in a dark cabin and never leaves your shoulder at the terminal.
